Zaditen Oral Drops are utilized for the preventive management of bronchial asthma, particularly when accompanied by atopic symptoms. Ketotifen is a medication designed for continuous preventive treatment and is not effective for the immediate prevention or management of acute asthma episodes.
The active component in Zaditen is Ketotifen Fumarate. Ketotifen is classified as an antiallergic and an asthma prophylactic medication.
Zaditen does not aid in halting ongoing asthma attacks. It is not a replacement for corticosteroid therapy (either inhaled or systemic) when such treatment is warranted in asthma management. Additionally, Zaditen is indicated for the prevention and treatment of various allergic disorders, such as chronic urticaria, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and conjunctivitis.
Zaditen is effective in alleviating eye itching caused by allergies to dust, pollen, animals, as well as bronchial asthma or other allergens. As an antihistamine, Zaditen works by blocking the release of histamine, a chemical that can trigger allergy symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes.
Use Zaditen precisely as instructed on the label or as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Avoid using more than the recommended dose or for an extended period. Patients who are particularly sensitive to sedation should start with 0.5 mg to 1 mg at night for the initial few days.
The common side effects of Ketotifen, affecting up to 1 in 10 individuals, include feelings of hyperactivity, irritability, nervousness, and disturbed sleep. Other side effects from Zaditen may encompass drowsiness, and in rare instances, dry mouth and mild dizziness might occur at the onset of treatment, typically resolving on their own after a few days. There have been occasional observations of central nervous system stimulation, and weight gain has been noted. Cystitis has been infrequently reported in connection with this medication. Rare cases of severe skin reactions (including erythema multiforme and Stevens-Johnson syndrome) have also been documented.
Zaditen is contraindicated for individuals who are hypersensitive to Ketotifen or any
